FINCA Joins WE Finance Code to Support Women Entrepreneurs
As a global signatory of the WE Finance Code, FINCA reinforces its commitment to boost funding, data transparency, and support for women-led businesses worldwide.
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 12, 2026 — FINCA today announced that it has become a global signatory to the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code (WE Finance Code), a system-wide effort led by the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) to address the $1.9 trillion global financing gap facing women entrepreneurs.
By signing the WE Finance Code, FINCA reinforces its longstanding commitment to expanding economic opportunity for women entrepreneurs in emerging markets. As a global signatory, FINCA joins a growing coalition of financial institutions, policymakers, and development partners working to close the gender financing gap by leading and championing efforts to support women-led businesses, improving gender-disaggregated data, and advancing targeted actions to improve how financial solutions reach and support women.
“Expanding funding for women entrepreneurs is essential to building more inclusive and resilient economies,” said FINCA Global CEO Andreé Simon. “Achieving this at scale requires sustained, collective effort across markets and institutions, and the WE Finance Code provides a critical platform for that collaboration to happen.”
According to We-Fi — housed in the World Bank Group — closing the gender financing gap could add trillions to the global GDP. Since 2017, We-Fi has facilitated more than $7 billion in public and private-sector funding to support over 620,000 women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises in developing markets.
“We are delighted to welcome FINCA as a global signatory to the WE Finance Code,” said Wendy Teleki, Head of Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) Secretariat. “FINCA brings decades of experience serving entrepreneurs in underserved markets and a deep commitment to women’s economic empowerment. Their global footprint, strong track record in advancing financial inclusion, and leadership across multiple countries will help accelerate progress toward closing the financing gap for women entrepreneurs. We look forward to working together to strengthen data, expand access to finance, and drive greater impact for women-led businesses.
Four FINCA subsidiaries — FINCA Kosovo, FINCA Kyrgyzstan, FINCA Tajikistan, and FINCA Uganda — have also joined the WE Finance Code as national signatories.
“Women have long been at the center of FINCA’s strategy, and we are proud of the progress we’ve made. But we know more can and must be done across the sector,” said Zar Wardak, CEO of FINCA Azerbaijan and FINCA’s appointed senior lead for the WE Finance initiative. “As part of the coalition, we will share our experience and learn from others’ work. Together, we will strengthen solutions and expand meaningful support for women entrepreneurs worldwide.”
