Maria V. Vilela
Vice President & General Counsel
Maria Vilela oversees legal and governance functions for FINCA Impact Finance worldwide. She has extensive expertise in banking and regulatory compliance, cross-border transactions, corporate governance, tax-exempt entities and NGOs, employment, and mergers and acquisitions. Maria has been with FINCA since 2003, previously serving as Deputy General Counsel and Regional Counsel for Latin America and Africa.
Before joining FINCA, Maria was an associate at the Caracas office of Baker McKenzie, where she worked for many international clients on diverse issues including commercial and corporate law, employment law, and immigration. In the United States, Maria consulted for an international money transfer company with operations in Latin America. She received a law degree from Universidad Católica Andres Bello (Caracas, Venezuela) and holds a Master’s degree in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
